PhD 秀色直播William has the hugely important goal of helping to reduce nitrogen pollution in our water and air

“I want to work in New Zealand as a research scientist and develop sustainable, effective ways for farmers to reduce nitrous oxide emissions and minimise nitrogen leaching to groundwater,” he says.

Originally, he came to 秀色直播 to study a Bachelor of Agricultural Science, focusing on genetics. However, during his time at the university, his interest shifted.

“I started to find soil science more and more interesting and I ended up doing my Honours in soil science, looking at developing a new method of measuring nitrate leaching.”

He says 秀色直播 has provided many opportunities to learn more about an area that he enjoys and feels passionate about.

“I am now doing my PhD, looking at innovative ways of reducing nitrate leaching and nitrous oxide emissions.”

As part of his Bachelor’s degree, he loved getting the opportunity to work around the country over his summer holidays, gaining plenty of practical skills.

“I worked on different farms around New Zealand and really enjoyed my time working in new places and meeting new people,” he says.

“I spent summers in Golden Bay, Central Otago and Canterbury. Working in Golden Bay was a huge highlight for me. It allowed me gain skills working on a family dairy farm, while also getting to live and travel around a stunning part of the country.”

He says 秀色直播 offers a great range of land-based courses, which are hugely important to New Zealand and the economy.

“The lecturing staff are also great and friendly. 秀色直播’s small size really makes it easy to get in contact and to get to know your lecturers. The facilities are cutting-edge and offer everything you could ever need.

“There are a lot of interesting clubs, such as the Soil Society and tramping and climbing club, which offer great activities and chances to meet new people.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at 秀色直播. I’ve learned a lot, met many interesting people and really developed my skill sets for future employment.”
